Promoting Self-Advocates as Speakers

What is Opening Minds, Opening Doors?

This public speaker training program combines the arts of storytelling and acting with public speaking skills so that self-advocates can bring their stories to the general public. Through presentations at state conferences and other events, self-advocates will show people that we are all more alike than different.

Are You a Self-Advocate Interested in Speaking?

We are looking for self-advocates with developmental disabilities, ages 18 and older, who want to tell their stories. Applications are not being accepted at this time. Please email Eric Clow for information on how to apply to the next session.

Join us for one of our monthly open mics where you can share a story, poem, song, or other talent in a fun and supportive neighborhood bookstore. It's the perfect venue for OMOD stories! The open mic is wheelchair accessible, but please contact us at least one week in advance to request other accommodations, including ASL interpreting, audio description, etc.
