My name is Darrell Washington. I am a published visual artist with a disability and an active member of the Austin arts community. I have been invited by the Carver Museum to display a one-man solo show for Juneteenth 2015. The art seen here is some of the work that will be on display. This exhibit will be dedicated to showing my past and current works. This show will give me an opportunity to actively put forth a public display of never before seen artwork from the eyes of a child growing up in East Austin. My past work includes various mediums such as watercolor and pencil. I’ve found that artists from all backgrounds (particularly African Americans) are dramatically underserved in the community. My goal is to restore the Austin community through my interpretation of life from an African American view in the visual arts.
